The application is great in terms of functionality and ease of use. Beside the nice backgrounds, the push notification is a great feature. You can contact the birthday person from within the application. For the current version of this application you can only adjust the push settings for all events. Maybe in future upgrades the push settings will be adjustable for individual events. Even when you are not inside the application, you can still count updates and alerts for occasions occurring in the present day or in the near future. Because this is a complex application you can specify the time of day you want to receive both audible and visual alerts.

Other excellent features beside the push notifications: the automated function that will allow you to retrieve birthdays, anniversaries, and other dates from the created database on your iPod touch or iPhone with 3.0 operating system; the convenient function, which allows you to call, email and text message right from the application for new or existing contacts with a birthday, anniversary coming up; the application is fast because it is capable to handle large lists of contacts with a fast load time.

Also, the Occasions (Birthdays, Anniversaries, Push Notifications and more!) is user friendly with the search feature allowing you to use many filters on your search; fully customizable with every contact on your list (add, edit, delete and many other more); the occasions organizer is informative, because it displays the number of upcoming occasions with one month in advance and not last, the application is attractive with the 8 unique themes (gray, blue, earth, wind, black, fire, water, and fuchsia)  from which you can choose.

This is a great organizer with excellent features, great interface with a fast response to your taps over the touch screen of your iPod touch or iPhone (running with iPhone OS 3.0). The Occasions application is a must have, for all of you out there with a certain number of events to keep in mind. And do not worry, because the organizer application will not let any event go beside you without letting you know, either with audible or visual alerts (or both - highly recommended). For all of you Occasions fans, the Occasions 2.0 is on its way. It will be a big upgrade, bringing in a lot of new features and refinements. All versions of the iPhone OS takes almost 240 MB from the readable only memory of the device. As of July 14, 2009, the App Store has more than 65000 applications for iPod touch and iPhone. The constantly growing number of applications and downloads applications (1.5 billion by today) is the new iPhone OS 3.0 which allows 3rd party applications. Therefore the iPhone can do something that every other mobile phone can do (finally). Now the landscape mode is available not just in the Safari browser but also when writing e-mails, messages and notes. It is really great because is very comfortable to use than before. You can now use both of your hands when texting.

Finally, Apple released cut, copy and paste for the iPhone and iPod touch. To use this feature you either double tap over the text or input a long press at the beginning of the text. A cut, copy and paste text dialog will pop-up. The process is easy to use because of the shake to undo feature. Another excellent feature is the turn by turn GPS directions (released, however, as a third party application). Unfortunately the GPS maps are not cheap either so be prepared when you will purchase a Tom Tom package. Even if the iPhone doesn't support multitasking, you should be able to make phone calls or listening to music on the cars sound system while getting directions. Also Tom Tom will offer a car kit to safely secure your iPhone. The kit will even charge your device in the same time.



The peer to peer Bluetooth connectivity will allow two iPhone devices to connect directly via Bluetooth. Both devices will be able to discover each other using Bluetooth. This way the users can play games or use social applications. Also you can combine the peer to peer connectivity with the push notification. With the OS 3.0 the users can download and install applications with embedded Google maps. You can now search in mail, calendar, contact, and iPod. All Apple applications have unique search interfaces. The search in mail supports searching in IMAP servers.

The application that will allow you to search in the entire data base in your iPhone is Spotlight. Just click once on the Home button and the search engine with the keypad will slide from right to left onto your iPhone's screen. You can now send and purchase movies, download TV shows and audio books using the iTunes store. The new Safari version will remember login information. It is also much faster, stable and user friendly. The 3G tethering will allow you to connect your iPhone to a laptop and use it as a modem to connect to the internet. You can now choose from settings, additional keyboard (for a better input text).



The Bluetooth is now improved. Your iPhone can now be connected to a stereo Bluetooth headphone are speaker by using the A2DP feature. While using the iPod application you just have to shake your iPod touch or iPhone to shuffle music. Apple also has included new widgets in the new OS like voice application memo and send / receive files feature. You can now share photos, music, contact or notes between all OS 3.0 devices.

Other features worth reminded: forward contacts and events, landscape stock chart, 3rd application voice memo recorder, anti-phishing technology and WiFi auto-login (in case you have a subscription to a paid hotspot so that your iPhone or iPod with OS 3.0 will auto-login). Because of the flexibility offered by the new iPhone OS 3.0, all older models of the iPhone and iPod touch will be able to upgrade to it but some features will not work due to older hardware technology. All the above features are just a small part of what the OS 3.0 stands for.

The new software represents a better appealing competitor to the Android OS. Probably the most useful feature from the iPhone OS 3.0 is the copy and paste function. Now you will be able to select multiple photos by tapping the action button, copy them and paste them wherever you want. The new OS 3.0 offers a great App Store. It offers unlimited possibilities for application publishers and creators.



Developers are allowed to upgrade their applications without making a new entry in the App Store. At the "It's Only Rock and Roll" media event on September 09, 2009, Apple announced an upgrade, the iPhone OS 3.1 for both iPhone and iPod touch. It's free and brings great features and updates. Therefore we will get improved syncing for music, movies, TV shows, podcasts and photos. New iTunes U content organization. You are now able to save videos from Mail and MMS into Camera Roll. Better iPhone 3G WiFi performances (while Bluetooth is on).

You can use voice control on iPhone 3GS with Bluetooth headsets. Paste phone numbers into the keypad. The iPhone OS 3.1 comes with improved exchange calendar syncing and invitation handling. The new software also fixes the problems that caused some application icons to not be shown properly. If you are an iPod touch user with an OS 2.x than you can upgrade to iPhone OS 3.1 for $4.95.
