I have discovered this application while I was searching for a software application which could help me sketch the structure of a website I had been planning for a while. I needed something which could help me make the sketch as close as possible to what I had in my mind. I wanted a flexible, user-friendly and professional software application. A friend, Marius Deak, who is using very often this type of applications in his business, Green Pixel, recommended me FlairBuilder.

It was exactly what I needed: I found a tool which can capture my ideas and render them in high fidelity circumstances. If I had few pages with few elements it could have been easy to use any other solution, but because I have a complex website, with a lot of buttons, frames, interactive elements, FlairBuilder is the perfect application.


FlairBuilder allows you to logically define in detail the structure of the project pages by grouping them. The entire structure can be easily modified or just updated by dragging and dropping the pages from one folder to another. The folders can also be easily edited or renamed by double clicking them.

Sketches are trendy nowadays, and this software is the best, in my opinion, for doing them. Paper is still used, but a digital medium, with all its features and facilities, is infinite more comfortable for designers and entrepreneurs. Even this software has a simple look, the interactivity and the wide range of tools offered can satisfy even the most pretentious user.


When developing and planning a project, you might want to change it over time. Projects become more and more stable in time, but they also should be flexible and easy to modify (update). This software has a mechanism which allows you to switch from one theme to another or from one version to another easily. The most important aspect in this switching process is that the layout remains  the same.

The application is built around widgets, and the widget range is pretty wide, so you can use a lot of elements which could be present in your project. All widgets are perfectly looking the same as the "natural" ones, even if they are some sort of simulations. This gives you the possibility to create a precise plan for your project. It's easy to sketch the design of a website, when you have all the elements with their natural size, in the shape and form you will use when the project will be live.

FlairBuilder includes the "master" concept, like ASP.NET pages or in PowerPoint templates, and this is great because you can use the basic layout without having to redesign it again in every page. Another interesting thing is that you can add notes, which are very useful if multiple people are editing a project, and these notes can be about anything (for example, about how something should behave).  The interactivity is great in this software application, because you can add events for buttons and hyperlinks, but you can also place a Video player somewhere. The beautiful thing is that the Video player will render the previously setup Youtube video in preview mode.

One key aspect I would like to mention for this application is that all elements can easily be handled with the drag'n'drop interface. FlairBuilder is very easy to use because of this feature, and most of the people I have talked to about this option agreed: drag'n'drop is cool in software applications. Another good point of this software application is that the design area is large, realistic, and another important feature is that you can easily switch between the preview and the design modes. Editing the content is really practical, because if you want to edit an element, all you have to do is to double click it and its properties will be shown.

Even if until this version hasn't been implemented a simple "print" option, you can export your layouts and print them afterwards, and in the future the possibility to export to .HTML will be implemented too.

I really liked that the prototypes you can create with Flair Builder have the entire range of characteristics and capabilities the real applications have, from input user interaction to page dynamics and transitions. This application is worth trying and I recommend it!

On October 01, 2009, Multi Educator Inc released the latest version of "Builder's Formulator", a necessary application for anyone who is in the building industry, either pro or amateur. You can currently find this application on App Store under the Business category with the latest version, 2.4, available for $9.99 price tag. "Builder's Formulator" was developed for both second and third generation operating system for iPhone mobile platform. This application can be used on either iPod touch or iPhone as long as these devices have installed the proper operating system. This application contains over 200 formulas, extremely useful for builders.

This application doesn't just contain several formulas from the engineering department, but also includes the other necessary formulas for Electrical department, Carpentry department, and Plumbing department. Even more, the "Builder's Formulator" includes formulas from the Excavation department and Concrete department for the foundation (since we all know how important is to have a good solid and correct foundation).

All these formulas are extremely useful even if you are going to use them just to check your work and not to fully rely on them. In the Electrical section of this application you will get several formulas that will help you calculate power, voltage, power factor, efficiency, watts, amps, resistance, current and so many other more. As you can imagine all these calculations are necessary for a proper building structure (which doesn't just imply walls, especially nowadays when the electrical power supply must be correct calculated in order to sustain all the devices found on the average home, or even more in an office building).
Also important are the plumbing calculations, because the plumbing is one of the most important elements that contribute to comfort. You can survive a few hours or a couple of days without electricity but you can't survive without the proper plumbing for so many reasons. Therefore, this section (Plumbing) contains formulas that calculate the final temperature of two mixed water elements, radiant heat, heat loss cooling requirements combined with the fresh air necessity every day (as you can see is not all that easy to build proper constructions).

And because we live into a financial world, where everything is about money, the "Builder's Formulator" also contains a Financial section which will help you as a constructor to estimate a precise price for any reports you may need to fill out. The latest version brings several improvements in the formula storage and also some bug fixes.

Therefore, you get some new formulas such as pipe velocity, efficiency to pump, head feet, pressure, area of ellipse, area of hexagon, water horse power and many other more. Overall, the "Builder's Formulator" is a great application, very useful for anyone who is currently building a house or a building, either pro or amateur. The price is not exactly cheap when you get focused on the tag, but if you chose to look at the nice interface provided with easy and intuitive controls, and extremely useful content, you will understand that in the bigger picture this application is worthy of every dollar.

You can find this application on App Store under the Business category with the latest version, 3.2, available for $0.99 price tag. "BOLT Full View Browser" is developed for both iPhone and iPod touch running only the latest versions of the third generation operating system for iPhone mobile platform.

This application is a true chameleon. It can be considered "compatible" with the most important internet browsers such as Mozilla
or Internet Explorer, but in reality BOLT can be any browser you want. The only reason it replaces the form of the other browsers is for accessing several web pages compatible with specific browsers such as Internet Explorer. This application is really useful since it is extremely secure providing the private browsing.

Therefore, you can easily access a bank account or a credit card account, or make purchases online from any Wi-Fi connections and even more secure from the 3G connection.

This application is also important if you are planning to keep your emails hidden or unknown, whether you send them or receive them. Even more, BOLT will let you open the Safari Browser within the application. One of the best features of the BOLT is not only the small memory needed on your iPod touch or iPhone but also the insignificant memory value withdrawn from the random access memory. Therefore, your iPod touch or iPhone will be left with more than necessary memory to run the program and the operating system without any glitches. Even more when the 4.0 OS will come out and probably bring the multi tasking to the iPhone the BOLT will be the perfect browser thanks to the secure line and almost none random access memory.

Not only BOLT doesn't keep track of any passwords or user names used, but also delete the browsing history, just in case someone would like to keep an eye on your everyday move. The interface is really well designed and includes several common graphics from other iPhone pre-installed applications. For completing the package this application also brings some sound effects. The overall user experience is quite good. "BOLT Full View Browser" not only provides a good user experience, being easy to use in both landscape mode and portrait mode, but it also brings security and privacy in your everyday iPhone usage.

Overall, the  "BOLT Full View Browser"  is an excellent application which is not only great for business environment but also for personal life, providing everything that a secure computer browser would provide for almost free taking into consideration its small price tag of only $0.99 (a true bargain for anyone that knows how much business applications cost on App Store).
