"Scanner Pro" is compatible with both second and third generations operating system for the iPhone mobile platform. This application is developed for your iPhone, since it needs a camera. Even more, it would be wise for you to only buy this application if you own an iPhone 3GS, because it sports a better camera with auto focus, in comparison with the iPhone 3G. "Scanner Pro" will allow you to scan multipage documents.

Once you have done that, you can easily email them or just upload them (in case you have a Mobile Me account) on the Mobile Me iDisk. You don't need to worry about the PDF saved file format. You don't need another PDF application to view the scanned documents, because "Scanner Pro" already includes the PDF view function.

For anyone who need a triple save possibility the upload of the scanned documents on a server will be a real nice feature. As a main drawback, is that you are not able to edit the scanned documents, making the on the go feature a little limited, since you can't edit a document before emailing it. Overall, the "Scanner Pro" does its job pretty well (if you own an iPhone 3GS) and also adds to the features a PDF viewing application. However, for $6.99 it is a subjective decision if you should buy this application or not.

You can find "Fast Writer" on App Store under the Business category, with the latest available version, 2.0.1, for only $0.99 price tag (a true bargain for anyone who knows how frustrating it is to try to write something fast on their iPhone). This application will enable a full customizable shortcut keys. You can choose from almost 120 characters. You get a fast access to any character or symbol you might need when typing in both landscape mode and portrait mode. However it is recommended to use the landscape mode, since you get about 15 shortcut keys in this mode, while in the portrait mode you only get 10 shortcut keys.



Easily change the font type or the font size, and even the font color for every note you might type. You get about 30 different font types, 11 different font colors, and up to 50 font sizes (depending on the landscape or portrait mode used). These customizations were not allowed within the pre installed application of the iPhone OS. You can easily send the typed notes directly from the application as a short message or as an email. Even more, you get several settings even in the email mode, thanks to "Fast Writer".


This application also provides a built in search engine, for a better search of older notes. Filter fields are also available, but you must first add tags to your notes. You don't need to worry about getting a phone call during typing since this application auto saves the last note just in case.
Thanks to the new improves iPhone OS 3.0 you can now easily use copy and paste features. Just like the pre installed Notes application, the "Fast Writer" can hide the keyboard for a better view of the typed text. The latest version not only improves several software issues, but also improves the feedback of the buttons used for features like "undo" and "redo".

Also fixed is the toolbar position. However, this application does lack something, a better integration of languages. For the time being this application recognizes Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, Italian, German and English. Overall, the "Fast Writer" is an important application for anyone who needs improved Notes software.
