To get rid of the piracy label sticked to its back by the great entertainment companies in the past, BitTorrent decided to join them and turned its official website, into a multimedia store that allows its users to purchase videos completely legal, with full copyright rights granted by various studios from Hollywood.
More than that, Brightcove, an online TV platform, showed interest in a collaboration with BitTorrent, and soon will use BitTorrent Delivery Network Accelerator to distribute video over the Internet.
The company from Cambridge, specialized in online video publishing, is running Brightcove.tv video sharing and distribution website, and Brightcove Studio, a set of tools for creating custom video players, both its products using Adobe Flash technology to stream Flash Video to widgets.
Brightcove will start using BitTorrent Delivery Network Accelerator in the near future to deliver their media content straight to their user's computers better and faster than before.
According to Jeremy Allaire, the Brightcove chairman and chief executive officer, “BitTorrent DNA addresses fundamental technology challenges associated with high-quality media delivery online, and by integrating it into a new offering in our internet TV service, we can give our content publishers the option to easily deliver full-screen, broadcast-quality streaming video to their viewers.”
Rob Enderle from the Enderle Group explained that “This may simply be one of the few examples of the right technology at the right time as users increasingly are demanding larger media-rich files at increasing speeds while providers are looking to reduce their overheads and the cost of their services.”
