Document Management Software

On June 27, 2009, Savy Soda Pty Ltd released "Documents" the ultimate office suite for your iPod touch or iPhone running the third generation of operating system for iPhone platform.  You can find "Documents" on App Store under the Business category with a price list of $2.99 for the 2.3 version. Savy Soda is a developer and seller of software applications exclusively developed for Apple. They focus on creating the most innovating and original applications that contains the new factor. Their headquarters is in Melbourne, Australia.

"Documents" is an essential application for all of you that need your iPods touch or iPhones to allow you to edit and manage not only text files, but also spreadsheets. This document management software will work with no internet connection required. "Documents" can also synchronize files to your Google Documents account in order for you to open the edited files on your personal computer or MacBook. This application comes with a smooth user interface that will allow you to work both in landscape mode but also in portrait mode when on the run.

The "Documents" application brings full support in editing and managing files with txt and csv extensions, and only limited support for files with the following extensions: doc, docx, xls, xlsx. The user interface looks good and runs smoothly on the touch screen of your iPod touch or iPhone. In the editing interface you will find at the bottom of the screen a tab with all you might use for editing (copy, font, bold, italic, color text, and even mathematical functions for the spreadsheets). If you are familiar with Microsoft Office Excel you won't have any problems with editing spreadsheets with "Documents".

The same tab from the Excel can be found in the "Documents" in order for you to easily express mathematical functions for columns or lines. All the files you create, edit and manage with this document management software can be easily opened on your computer or MacBook with Microsoft Excel, Word, Apple Numbers, Text Edit, Notepad, Open Office and other major office suites. Beside creating, editing and managing documents, you can also do the same (create, edit and manage) photos. Also the spreadsheet supports formatting, resizing and other features beside the formulas. The latest upgrade brought a few improvements to the original "Documents".

The application contains iSpreadsheet, a basic text editor, a well needed file browser for you to organize in a neat way all your documents, Google synchronization for uploading and downloading documents and instant email (finally Savy Soda realized that a proper business application needs an instant email feature for a permanent connection to your employees and bosses). However, like every other business application, "Documents" has its drawbacks: no folder structure when you are signed into Google App, which does not provide a good structure in your files (it will show all your files in one folder); once you are signed in, you are presented with the bright red delete circle by each one of your documents; sometimes you will not find the uploaded documents; every time you open the application you will have to input your password because "Documents" doesn't keep you logged on (lack of multitasking); the login button is too close to the cancel button, making the log in process unbearable if you are in a hurry.

Overall, this document management software might just be what you are looking for, if you need a way for you to work when you are not at the office, or at home, or maybe you just want to backup your documents and send some of them to your boss or employees when their in need for them (just use the email feature). Also, because it is unhealthy to only wok and have no fun, "Documents" provides a photo album, were you can organize not only charts but fun photos to.
