eDocXL is a very friendly document management program. The software supports, scanning documents and business cards, searching documents, importing files and folders from the numerous functions supported by this software. This software is targeted for small or home-based businesses that need document management software that is economical as well as efficient.

The software is very user friendly and easy to use. Every time you start this program, a Welcome Wizard pops up asking the user what he or she would like to do. Also, whenever you start this document management application, a Tip of the Day dialog appears providing some useful information and hints to the user. If you do not want the Welcome Wizard and the Tip of the Day dialog to appear every time you start this application, you can change the settings by un-checking the Show on Startup checkbox.

• With eDocXL you can scan paper documents and save it as electronic files in various file formats.


• eDocXL lets you to easily export contents of business cards into Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express address books.


• eDocXL supports optical character recognition (OCR) technology, which means text from image files and scanned documents will be converted to electronic text which can be edited and searched by the search engine.


• The eDocXL software allows you to import all types of documents such as business cards, images, photos and PDF documents. Any Microsoft office documents can be filed and stored in the eDocXL document management software.


• eDocXL allows you to create a document from several different documents by a process called “stitching” which lets you join two or more documents. This is useful as it allows you to put related documents together thereby facilitating a quicker retrieval of documents. All you need to do is select all the files you want stitched together and click the Stitch button.


• eDocXL provides for some very good security features, such as permission rights, security access on certain documents and more. But some of the security features are very stringent. For example, if you take a back up of your documents and want to restore it later you will need to ask the administrator to reactivate the system for you. Another drawback is that the system automatically locks you from accessing it if you make minor changes such as changing the clock time on your computer. You will need a developers help to undo these changes.
