Firefox 3 Is Near The Beta Stage

Gran Paradiso is not a game, and it's not a movie either. If this doesn't ring any bell, I am sure that only my grandmother didn't hear about Firefox yet, but I am also convinced she's not going to read this article anyway, so let's see what's new in Mozilla's garden...

As you have probably figured out already, this is just another version released to the public only for testing purposes, so don't think about replacing your everyday browser with Gran Paradiso yet, at least wait for the first Beta to come out! Anyway, if you want to take the chances, you should know that Windows, Linux and Mac OS versions of Firefox 3 Alpha 8 became available today.

While Internet Explorer's market share keeps shrinking slowly, but surely, Mozilla's fox gets more and more attention. If Microsoft doesn't strike back, it is possible for Internet Explorer 7 to follow Netscape Navigator's fate, but I hope that doesn't happen. I am not an Internet Explorer fan, but we have at least a dozen of serious Web browsers on the market at this time, and competition was always good for the end user.

If you're wondering about the new stuff included in Firefox 3 Alpha 8, then I'm very pleased to see that Mozilla (finally!!) added pause/resume for downloads, as well as a new way to assign various file types and protocols to external applications and Web services. For more details, and to download the program, of course, please go
here and don't forget - this release is for testing purposes only, so be careful with it!

...but the old Firefox versions don't have a pause/resume button, and that feature also doesn't sem to work as it should - at least for me.
Now, apart from the pause/resume and cancel buttons, a search box has been added to the download manager, and that could also prove quite useful.
