First Vista Update - Between The Hammer And The Anvil

Finally, we have official news from inside Microsoft claiming the first Vista update has been released for manufacturing! Now, this is really good news from the Redmond giant, and I hope we'll get to see Vista's first service pack as soon as possible available for download via Windows Update too, maybe even before Apple releases the second patch to Leopard...

Today, Steve Ballmer had a meeting with investors, and he said the first update to Vista is currently released to manufacturers, but he also declared that the first major upgrade to Windows Server has also been released to manufacturing, and we're talking about Windows Server 2008 here, of course.

At this time, there are still a lot of users expecting the first Vista update to change their minds regarding the upgrade. While those saying that Vista is not reliable are just a bunch of people without anything better to do, or simply unfortunate users with hardware that has various problems, those that expect Vista's performance to improve with the first service pack are perfectly right, in my opinion. After all, I am one of them, and while some sources claim Vista should "fly" on a configuration like mine, I am still waiting for it to take off...

You can bet I'll get back to you with information related to these topics as soon as I find out more, because that's something we're all expecting - a faster Vista, with less compatibility issues with older or more "exotic" hardware and, maybe, the news that Windows XP will be allowed to live at least until 2009...
