Free Anti Spam Software

All the people that have an email account know what spam is and find it very annoying. Spam is usually referring to the unwanted and unsolicited email messages that have as their only purpose advertising for one product or another. This happens when you introduce your contact data , I mean your email address, in some data base when you get into a contest on the internet or subscribe to some newsletters or something similar.

But apart from what you really want to get as you subcsibed willingly to the newsletter, you will get a lot of unwanted mail. This happens because there are certain software applications that can find email addresses on the internet and gather all of them in a data base they will use afterwards for sending their spam messages. Once this process is started it will be very difficult to stop it. That is because these companies have the habit of selling  their email address data base to other companies involved in the spam business and so on. I think you get my point.

And what can be more annoying than reading your emails every morning and finding lots of unsolicited messages from companies and people you don't know and whose only purpose is to make scams and to sell you one thing or another, usually bad quality stuff?

Well, don't give up hope, as there are other good guys who developed anti spam software that they offer for free or for sale and that you can use to protect your email account from spam. Here is a top 14 of the Free antispam software applications for Windows that will help you decide which one is best for you: 1. POPfile free spam filter, 2. eXpurgate , 3. Spamihilator,  4. Spamato, 5. Spam Bayes, 6. SpamPal, 7. SpamExperts Desktop, 8. K9, 9. Cactus Spam Filter, 10. SpamRIP, 11. BullGuard Spam filter, 12. G-Lock Spam Combat, 13. MailWasher free, 14. SpamWeasel. Here you can find short reviews of every one of them that you will find useful.

Most free antispam software applications have more or less similar features. The first step in filtering the emails received to a specific address is for the email account owner to browse every email address in the address book and choose whether to grant or deny access for emails coming from that address. Once an address is granted access, it will be immediately allowed to enter your email account and once one is denied access it will be immediately forwarded to a special folder called usually Quarantine Database or simply deleted.

These antispam software applications usually use another server where they redirect all email messages received until they are analyzed. If the address is unknown then the message will be sent to the intermediate server while waiting for the sender to identify itself as a person. This is possible because of the fact that that address is sent some identification code that can only be read by human beings and that must be introduced in a box for identification. Once this operation is done, so is the identification process and the email is granted access to its destination.

You should check the Quarantine database from time to time to see if there is anything of interest there, however. You will certainly find more examples of antispam software on the internet, but be careful if you want a free one, as most of them are shareware or freeware and you will be allowed to use the software only for a specific period of time and after that you will have to purchase it.
