Interesting Movements at Azureus Inc

For a lot of people, Azureus is the best BitTorrent client that money can't buy, and that's not only because this program is free to use... With the growth in processing power for desktop computers in the last years, the fact that Azureus was written using Java is no longer a problem, given that anyone can afford a decent CPU and at least 1GB of memory. Anyway, in the last days, I've seen a lot of Beta version coming up from them, so I thought it would be a good idea to take a closer look...

At this time, there are two Azureus versions available - the "classic" one, or Azureus 2.x and Vuze, a new platform released since Azureus 3.0, practically a new media sharing application, including a graphic browser. The happenings of the last days concern only Vuze, so if you're a faithful Azureus 2 follower, there's nothing special to find out, unfortunately.
While latest stable release of Azureus Vuze is 3.0.4.0, made public on the 7th of December, I have seen no less than 3 preview releases in the last days, starting with 3.0.4.1 B08, on the 18th of December, and today I found out that Azureus 3.0.4.1 B10 is already available(according to their site, this version became public yesterday)! So...what's the catch?
To be honest, each time a new software release is expected, a lot of people expect a bunch of new features, but with Azureus, things look pretty different, in my opinion. The main reason is that, no matter how we say it, Azureus was always a memory hog, and improving its memory leaks was always a point on the fixes list for new versions. Even according to the official changelog, improving system resources usage seems to be the main goal of the development team, for now.
Since I talked about Vuze, it would be nice to tell you where to grab it from, so here you go - available for Windows, Azureus 3.0.4.0 can be downloaded from here, and the current Beta release should be on this page. The good part is that being a Java program, Azureus can work easily on Linux and Mac OS X platforms too, as long as you can spare a few minutes to read the instructions on how to make this happen...

I stopped reading this before hitting the second paragraph or so.
Azureus was nice, until utorrent came along, did the same things that I wanted, and did it with one hundredth the memory profile.
It means you can actually play games pretty much unbothered. Impossible with azureus.

Depends on the configuration of your PC, your Azureus settings, and the number of torrents open. If you're using uTorrent and have 25 torrents open, I don't think your computer would simply "fly"...
