Once a software package is registered with a certain serial number, this cannot be used by another software user, as he is denied access. Well, apparently this did not stop the "bad guys" to try to have access to the software without having to pay for the package. So they used different methods and finally succeeded and some of them even posted their findings on the internet as freeware or public domain software. They are known as software cracks, that is the software access codes were broken, cracked.
