As the title says, today I'll show you how to stop your mouse from waking up your computer, and the reason is that I just remembered I had a problem some years ago, when my computer wouldn't stay in sleep mode, because the mouse was too sensitive, and with each car passing on the street, my computer was taken out from its stand by or sleep state.
- Press the Start Orb, and then type "mouse" in the search box.

- Press the highlighted item above, and then open the Hardware tab in the window that opens.

- Left click on Properties.
- Select the Power Management tab, and there uncheck Allow this device to wake the computer.

- Press OK twice to open both windows open, and it's done!
I am sure this is going to be useful to somebody, and if you're one of those, please don't forget to drop a comment below! Thank you very much and good luck!

Thanks a lot. My mouse would randomly float to the left because its basically the first laser mouse ever made and it would constantly wake my computer up.

Yes this does indeed work thanks for the article. My network adapter was also waking up the computer on network activity.
You can manage these devices from the control pannel and find the offenders and prevent them from waking up the computer.
I went to: start / control panel / System and Sercurity / System / Device Manager / Mice and other pointing devices
Double click on the mice and network adapter if necessary, select the power management tab, and deselect "Allow this device to wake up the computer"

My mouse doesn't have a Power Management tab. My network adapter does, but not my mouse. And it's an optical mouse, so even switching the lights on or off activates it.
Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks for the tip, however my mouse will still wake the computer if clicked, not if moved. Don't know if this is normal?
