VLC 0.9.2 Problems!

My friends, today I'll be short, because it's not about what I can do for you, it's about something you can do for me, yourself, and the rest of our friends reading this article. What's that? Well, I need a hand to figure something out. It's something about the best media player out there, if you really want something to get the job done without paying a single cent, from playing music to streaming video on a network!

Are you interested? Obviously, the title of the article ruined it all, but that's not a problem - after all, if you were one of those considering Windows Media Player the best player for Windows, you wouldn't be here, right? OK, so let's say a few words about VLC, or VideoLAN Player, if you want...
I used this program on the Linux platform, as well as on Windows and Mac OS X, and I must tell you VLC rocks,
especially if you're a Mac user, but I am not here to tell you about this program's features. If you really want that, you can check the Free DVD Player Downloads article, where I talked about VLC and a few others for a while.
Now...let's get to the very simple subject today - last version of VLC I had installed on my computer was 0.8.6i. Until now, each update worked fine, only that...this time, something went wrong. All my settings remained the same, but most movies are not playing anymore. This also happened to other people I know, so VLC 0.9.2, the last version, may have some issues. What kind of issues, that's not something for me to say, I only noticed their effect.
So...did you happen to update VLC to 0.9.2? If you did, everything works fine? If you're new to VLC, that's even better - get the program from the VLC official page and let us know how does it work for you. Currently, there are almost 840,000 downloads of this version complete and counting...someone must know more than we do, so please come and enlighten us!

I installed v0.9.2 a few days ago and seems to play all of my videos, so far. Only thing I've wondered about is that the fast forward and slow motion controls have been eliminated. I'm still getting familiar with the new interface, so if anyone knows where these controls are, please advise.

Whoops... duh! I just noticed the answer to my own question. The plus and minus symbols at either end of progress slider controls the FF/Slo mo.

HUGE problems with VLC 0.9.2 on Windows machine - the interface fullscreen issues are fixed but very slow, drops frames, seeks poorly, and takes awhile to even start.
Sigh - 0.9.3?????

Doesn't handle media nearly as well as the previous version. I'm running on a fast XP machine. Videos take quite some time to start, and when they do I get audio only for the first few seconds, before the video kicks in later. I often get freezes (video freezes, audio keeps going) and what appear to be decoder problems.
Such a shame - the aesthetic and usability upgrades in this version are really nice, but I'll take the reliability and comprehensive feature set of previous versions any day. I'm going to roll back until these issues are resolved.

I've been checking the different 0.9.x versions of VLC and they have all had problems on my winXP SP1 notebook.
Many useful features in the 0.9.x but can't really use it without pulling my hair out. Many videos have problems playing, it doesn't save basic setting--set the equalizer and it resets after each song?!?!!?? Crashes if I use ctrl+Q or X. Doesn't jump very well either. All in all it seems a MAJOR step back for VLC! It was always VERY stable prior to 0.9. . . I'm using Mplayer as default now.

I have the 0.9.8a version installed on windows XP and its huuuuuuuuuuuuge disappointment! VLC used to rock, not anymore i'm afraid. Pity though....hope they rectify the hiccups i has. When i say hiccups, i mean exactly that cuz the image keeps skipping from one frame to the next. The audio goes along fine but the video is TERRIBLE!!!!!! Ciao!
